While all eyes are on the new Dune trailer released yesterday, there’s also news on the HBO Max series that’s accompanying it.
Variety is reporting that Diane Ademu-John has joined Dune: The Sisterhood as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Dune director Denis Villeneuve is helming the opening episode.
The series is a prequel to events in the movie told through the eyes of a mysterious order of women known as the Bene Gesserit. Given extraordinary abilities by their mastery of the body and the mind, the Bene Gesserit expertly weave through the feudal politics and intrigue of The Imperium, pursuing plans of their own that will ultimately lead them to the enigmatic planet Arrakis, known to its inhabitants as Dune.
