The Gerry Anderson movie that never was finally comes to life this summer, as Five Star Five is released today from Anderson Entertainment, distributed by Big Finish.

Five Star Five: John Lovell and the Zargon Threat is adapted by Anderson stalwart Richard James (Space Precinct, Terrahawks) from an unmade 1978 film script.

Read by Robbie Stevens, the adventure takes place on the planet Kestra, where peace is threatened by Zargon forces – and only one team can save them…

The peaceful planet of Kestra is under threat. The evil Zargon forces are preparing to launch a devastating attack from an asteroid fortress. With the whole Kestran system in the Zargons’ sights, Colonel Zana looks to one man to save them.  Except one man isn’t enough.  Gathering a crack team around him including a talking chimpanzee, a marauding robot and a mystic monk, John Lovell must infiltrate the enemy base and save Kestra from the Zargons! 

Producer Jamie Anderson said: “Dad spoke to me a couple of times about Five Star Five, and he always seemed disappointed that the production was cancelled. He saw it as his chance to put forward his own version of Star Wars – a Gerry Anderson take on the increasingly popular sci-fi movie franchises of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

“Well, now we get a chance to hear it for the first time. It’s a brilliant take on the original feature script by Richard James, with compelling narration by Robbie Stevens, and a phenomenal sound and music-scape by Benji Clifford. Dad would have been thrilled – as am I – that Five Star Five has finally been brought to life.”
