Described as a “surreal, ultraviolent serial-killer thriller,” Julia Ducournau’s Titane has won the Palme D’Or at Cannes (an announcement Spike Lee inadvertently made too early in proceedings).

Agathe Rousselle and Vincent Landon star in the movie which the BBC called “a nightmarish yet mischievously comic barrage of sex, violence, lurid lighting and pounding music” that follows the exploits of Alexia who has a titanium plate inserted in her skull as a child which leads to a very different relationship with cars.

The film is currently on release in France; no UK release date has yet been announced.
