The stakes are upped significantly but I think it puts our heroes suddenly in a very different position in terms of the power balance. They are no longer on the run from people because the regime they were hiding from is no longer in existence. The whole point of what brought them together is disintegrating. No spoilers but maybe they need to reconsider who their allies are.
