Richard Donner, director of the first two Superman films, The Omen, and The Goonies among many others, has died aged 91.

His career included multiple genre shows and movies from The Twilight Zone and The Man From UNCLE to The Wild, Wild West and The Banana Splits in the 1960s before moving mainly to movies, with the first of The Omen films appearing in 1976, and Superman – The Movie in 1978. He was replaced on Superman II by Richard Lester but his version of the film is easily available. The Goonies followed in 1985 and he helmed episodes of Tales from the Crypt for TV. His last genre picture was Timeline in 2003 based on Michael Crichton’s novel.
