Yvonne Hartman has problems in Middlesbrough in the latest Torchwood audio from Big Finish.

The Five People You Kill in Middlesbrough sees Tracy-Ann Obermanis reunited with her EastEnders co-star Kacey Ainsworth, her New Tricks castmate Denis Lawson and her It’s a Sin co-star Nathaniel Curtis.

This all-star cast is completed by Tim Bentinck (The Archers, Space: 1999), Sara Powell (The Diary of River Song, Unforgotten), Lisa Bowerman (Bernice Summerfield) and Big Finish newcomer Matt Battersby.

When a spaceship crashes on Middlesbrough it’s very sad, of course. But we at Torchwood have long had a plan to contain such a disaster.  Only, nothing is happening. And the disaster is spreading. So, I set out to find out what’s going on. What has happened to The Icarus Protocol? Who launched a Moonstrike Missile? And why will no-one admit that there’s a cloud of deadly particles sweeping across the United Kingdom?  My name is Yvonne Hartman. Don’t come between me and my country.

It’s a departure for us, as it sees Yvonne Hartman saving the nation (and Middlesbrough) from a catastrophe, and clearing all obstacles out of her way. She and Scott Handcock assembled an amazing cast of victims, so please just sit back, enjoy, and be terribly glad Yvonne isn’t coming for you.”

Tracy-Ann Oberman added: “This story is what happens when politics meets human caring. Whilst I think ‘Who would want to inherit a crisis like an alien spacecraft crashing into Middlesbrough?’ it’s a little nod to those people who want to be in charge of difficult choices. When you’re the cleverest one in the room, like Yvonne, and no one is listening to you, the rest must suffer.”
