Joanne Linville, best known to genre fans as the Romulan Commander from the original series of Star Trek, has died aged 93.

Linville made her mark on the series in the third season episode The Enterprise Incident and her character made multiple appearances in the extended universe (often named as Charvanek). Her other genre credits included The Passerby episode of The Twilight Zone, in 1961 and two different characters on The Invaders as well as two appearances on One Step Beyond.
