Small screen Tarzan Joe Lara has died in an aircraft accident aged 58.

Lara was best known for his role as Edgar Rice Burroughs’ lord of the jungle in the 1989 TV movie Tarzan in Manhattan and then again for the series Tarzan: The Epic Adventures that ran from 1996-7. He also appeared in various SF movies including “American Cyborg: Steel Warrior” (1993), “Steel Frontier” (1995), “Warhead” (1996), Doomsdayer” (2000), and “Starfire Mutiny” (2002). He retired from acting and went into singing.
