The Flash will be getting a five-episode event series to launch its next season.

Like all shows, The Flash was affected by the pandemic, with its 2020/21 season starting late. There therefore won’t be time to prepare a full batch of episodes for the autumn, but instead the CW promises a five-episode event.

“The idea for The Flash is, [showrunner] Eric Wallace and [executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] have come together and are talking about other superheroes from the CW-verse who will come together in each individual episode,” Mark Pedowitz explained. “It will not be quite be a crossover but will have a crossover-type feel and the introduction of all these characters.”

The remainder of Supergirl’s final season and the second season of Stargirl will provide DC content before The Flash’s return on Tuesday evenings.

In the new schedule, Batwoman will air on Wednesdays, teamed with Legends of Tomorrow.
