It’s been a week of superheroics for Emilia Clarke.

The Game of Thrones star has been linked to the Marvel Studios Disney+ series Secret Invasion (see our story here), and Entertainment Weekly has revealed that she has written a comicbook of her own.

M.O.M.: Mother of Madness is a three issue book from Image Comics, co-written by Clarke and Marguerite Bennett, with illustrator Leila Leiz, contributor Isobel Richardson, and cover artist Jo Ratcliffe forming an all-female creative team.

The story follows a single mother named Maya who discovers she possesses freakish superpowers, and uses them to take on a secret cabal of human traffickers.

It’s got a Deadpool tone, according to Clarke. “We’re always calling mothers superheroes, and I’m like, what if they were? What if they legitimately were superheroes?” she told EW. “Maya has had a very hard life, and she finds herself in a place where everything that makes her unique, she hates and is ashamed about. It’s only in the discovery of her powers that she finds her true acceptance of who she is.”
