American director Monte Hellman has died aged 91.
Although perhaps best known for his westerns, Hellman had a long association with the genre, starting as one of Roger Corman’s proteges.
He directed Beast from Haunted Cave for Corman, as well as parts of The Terror. Later on he directed Silent Night, Deadly Night 3: Better Watch Out! as well as second-unit action sequences for the original Robocop and a segment of the horror anthology Trapped Ashes in 2006.
