The Tomorrow War and The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay is preparing to helm a new Universal monster movie, Renfield.

Based on the character from Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Deadline notes that the movie is believed to be a modern-day take on the story, rather than a period piece. Ryan Ridley has written the script based on an outline by The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman.

Renfield has appeared in numerous screen versions of Dracula, most recently in the Steven Moffat/Mark Gatiss TV adaptation, in which he was played by Gatiss.
