Series 7 of Big Finish’s Sherlock Holmes tales is now set to be released as two stories over 2021 and 2022.

As previously announced, Nicholas Briggs returns as Sherlock Holmes with Richard Earl as Watson in these two full-cast audio dramas, written by Jonathan Barnes and directed by Ken Bentley, as they go head-to-head with new and old villains alike and once again solve the unsolvable.

Sherlock Holmes – The Seamstress of Peckham Rye remains due for release in July 2021, as originally advertised. However, due to unavoidable production issues, the release date of Sherlock Holmes – The Fiends of New York City has now been moved to May 2022.

Writer Jonathan Barnes said “When you start thinking about writing new stories for Sherlock Holmes, it’s almost as though the original stories are welcoming you in – there’s all these incredible gaps, tantalising hints dropped, and things that Watson is too discreet to say! So you can go into these gaps in the canon, trying to be as respectful as possible playing in Conan Doyle’s world, colouring in between the lines.

“It’s a childhood dream come true, to be able to write these stories. And my goodness, I’ve been very lucky at Big Finish! I’ve been allowed to write an awful lot of Holmes material for them, coming up to ten years – it was 2012 when we did the first one that I wrote. By the time this seventh series is complete, it will be a decade’s worth of stories!”
