Jeffrey M. Hayes, who oversaw development on Star Trek: The Next Generation and the 1980s Mission: Impossible, has died aged 68.

After being Executive VP of Paramount Pictures Network Television, where he worked on TNG,  he was President of Village Roadshow Pictures Television in Australia, before starting his own production company, Coote/Hayes Productions. Here he was responsible for On The Beach, The Lost World series, the 2005 version of Salem’s Lot, and Nightmares & Dreamscapes: From the Stories of Stephen King,  He was also an executive producer on Crusoe and most recently on Blood Drive and The Happytime Murders.

He also created and wrote the 1993 series Time Trax, as well as directing one episode.
