Hulu has confirmed that the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere with three episodes on Wednesday, April 28.
In the 10-episode upcoming season, June (Elisabeth Moss) strikes back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.
Speaking at the virtual TCAs, showrunner Bruce Miller delineated the challenges faced by the production during COVID-19, not least getting the cast into Canada to shoot, meaning some characters are not appearing as frequently this season.
Miller also addressed the future of the show, which already has a season 5 pickup. “As long as Lizzie [Moss] will do this with me, I’ll keep going,” Miller said. “There’s a lot of life in this story. I ‘m certainly fascinated by what happens in [Margaret Atwood’s sequel novel] the Testaments and if that’s going to be part of our future, that’s a bigger question.”
The series stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Alexis Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel, Bradley Whitford and Sam Jaeger.
