Sci-Fi Bulletin: Exploring the Universes of SF, Fantasy, Horror and Spy-fi!

Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong,  James Hong and Matthew Rhys have all joined the cast of the animated Gremlins prequel, Secrets of the Mogwai.

According to Variety, the series, set in Shangai in the 1920s, will show how naïve 10-year-old Sam Wing (the future mysterious Chinatown shopkeeper Mr. Wing in the original movie), met the young Mogwai called Gizmo. Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colourful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.

The 10 half-hour episodes are written by Tze Chun with Rhys playing the villainous Riley Greene.
