HBO are definitely looking at a new version of True Blood, their hit horror series based on the books by Charlaine Harris.

Casey Bloys confirmed the news during interviews at the TCA this week. “There’s no green light imminent on that,” he told TV LIne. “I wouldn’t say it’s as far along as, say, [House of the Dragon].  We definitely have a writer working on an idea for sure, but I think that it’s fair to say it’s not quite as far along as people think.” Bloys noted that it wasn’t a project they were looking at to be on air in 2022, wanting to know if it is a “story worth telling. Is it engaging? Does it add to the original?”

Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is co-writing the script with Jami O’Brien, who has just signed a new deal with HBO.
