Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge are picking up the mantle of Mr and Mrs Smith from Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The new version will be for Amazon Studios, aimed at a 2022 launch. The original was produced by Doug Liman and written by Simon Kinberg, featuring a married couple who were rival spies. Waller-Bridge, Glover and Francesca Sloane will co-create the new version, with Sloane showrunning.
A previous TV pilot with Martin Henderson and Jordana Brewster didn’t go to series; the 1996-7 show with Scott Bakula and Maria Bello wasn’t connected.
