The Studio Ghibli movie Earwig and the Witch arrives in US cinemas (such as are open) on February 3, and on HBO Max the following Friday, February 5.

Based on the novel by Diana Wynne Jones, the move is set in 1990s England, where Earwig, a 10-year-old orphan girl who grew up without knowing that she is a witch’s daughter, is taken from the orphanage by a strange duo and starts living with them.

The original movie was shown in Japan at the end of last year; the English language version includes voice contributions from Dan Stevens, Richard E. Grant and Vanessa Marshall. The movie is being released in the UK by Elysian Film Group.
