Just over 15 hours and 2020 will be history – and we’re looking back over the most read stories of the year. In third place came news that fans had been hoping for ever since Big Finish’s licence was extended to cover the 21st century era – Christopher Eccleston was reprising his role as the Ninth Doctor.

As Nicholas Briggs – who was later revealed to have written at least the first script, and is directing the series – noted at the time

“Writing for and directing him feels incredibly exciting. He’s such a powerful performer and it’ll be amazing to work with him again.”
