A movie adaptation of Simon Stålenhag’s The Electric State has been on the cards for some time, but now it’s moving forward with the Russo brothers at the helm.

Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown is set to star in the movie set in an alternate future where human and robots live together in relative harmony and a teenage girl realizes that her sweet-but-strange new robot friend has actually been sent to her by her missing brother. She and the robot set out to find the boy, uncovering a grand conspiracy in the process.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely will pen the script but production isn’t anticipated starting till late next year.
