A world where a manmade pandemic has wiped out much of the population? Not the news, but the start of the new CBS All Access version of Stephen King’s magnum opus, The Stand.

On the basis of this first hour, the changes are sympathetic and necessary for this format and there’s high production values all the way including some surprising big-name guest stars.
