Herbert F. Solow, the producer of the original series of Star Trek, has died aged 89.

Solow helped to pitch Star Trek to NBC and was a key part of the production for the first two seasons of the original series – a function he also performed for Mission: Impossible. He was credited as “Executive in Charge of Production”. He co-authored Inside Star Trek in 1996 with Robert Justman which debunked some of the myths about the creation and running of Star Trek.
