The full-cast audio retelling of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s 1975 sci-fi spectacular Space: 1999, starring Mark Bonnar as Commander Koenig and Maria Teresa Creasey as Doctor Russell, is heading back for three new episodes.

13 September 1999: a freak accident blasts the Moon out of Earth’s orbit, hurling the 311 men and women of Moonbase Alpha into the far reaches of space.

13 September 2019: Big Finish returns to the Gerry Anderson universe with a complete re-imagining of one of his biggest and best-loved shows – Space: 1999

February 2021: the adventure continues.

This release will contain two entirely new stories, and one adaptation of a classic 1970s TV episode:

The Siren Call by Andrew Smith

The people of Moonbase Alpha are recovering from the shock of their base and their Moon having been blasted through a wormhole in space. But now they are far from home with little hope of a return to Earth.  Ahead of them is the planet Meta, whose signal somehow caused this catastrophe. Could this be their new home or does yet more danger lie ahead?

Death’s Other Dominion adapted by Roland Moore

A voice calls to the Alphans from a mysterious, snowbound planet. Can it be possible that humans from Earth have really colonised this remote world?  When Commander Koenig and his team investigate, they discover the planet Nival holds many terrible secrets.

Goldilocks by Andrew Smith

Not too hot, not too cold. The perfect planet on which life can thrive. But not all forms of life that thrive in the Goldilocks zone are peaceful.  Investigating this lush paradise, the Alphans must battle an ancient terror for survival.

Nicholas Briggs said: “Both Andrew and Roland are big fans of the original Space: 1999, so their enthusiasm for the series was on every page of their scripts. In adapting the pilot episode, Breakaway, I’d developed a particular style for the series, reinventing the characters a little while still being faithful to the originals, so my challenge as script editor was to work with Andrew and Roland on keeping the scripts in line with our new approach.”

Commander John Koenig is played by Mark Bonnar; also reprising their roles for the series are Maria Teresa Creasey (Doctor Helena Russell), Tim Bentinck (Commissioner Simmons), Clive Hayward (Professor Victor Bergman), Glen McCready (pilot Alan Carter), Susan Hingley (scientist Sandra Benes) and Amaka Okafor (operations officer Dashka Kano).
