Ángel Gómez is directing an adaptation of the life of Chief Exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth – the real life papal priest charged with delivering people of demons.

Chester Hastings and R. Dean McCreary have written the script about Amorth’s career, performing over 100,000 exorcisms for the Roman Catholic Church taken from his books An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories.

Amorth’s life has already been chronicled by William Friedkin in the documentary The Devil and Father Amorth. Whether Amorth’s well publicised hatred of Harry Potter will be incorporated in the new movie remains to be seen.
