Ben Wheatley’s career in recent years has seen him helm episodes of Doctor Who, Netflix’s new version of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca – and now The Meg 2.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the British director will be working on the Jason Statham sequel. Jon and Erich Hoeber have penned the most recent draft working off an initial draft by Dean Georgaris. The original film was based on a novel by Steve Alten.
