There were a load of spies on film and TV in the late 1960s and early 1970s when Callan originally aired – from James Bond to Napoleon Solo. James Mitchell’s creation veered far closer to the Alec Leamases of this world – The Spy Who Came In From the Cold – and this particular episode of Big Finish’s Callan shows exactly how differed.

t’s a story that sees Callan display his own innate sense of justice, one that won’t be browbeaten by Hunter’s pragmatism or considerations for the security of the nation.
