The only genre show to triumph at the main Emmy Award ceremony, HBO’s Watchmen gained four more awards to add to its tally.

Regina King won best actress in a limited series;  Yahya Abdul-Mateen II won supporting actor; Damon Lindelof and Cord Jefferson won for writing for a limited series; and the show itself was acclaimed Best Limited Series. “We dedicated this award to the victims and survivors of the Tulsa Massacre of 1921,” Lindelof said as he won the last award. “The fires that destroyed Black Wall Street still burn today, the only way to put them out is if we all fight them together.

Speaking backstage, show creator Damon Lindelof confirmed that this truly was a limited series with Regina King confirming she would not be prepared to return without Lindelof.

“I’m proud of the show; it really did open a lot of people’s eyes to the Tulsa riot,” HBO’s Casey Bloys said. “It is unfortunate that it has become relevant because of what happened in the country, but I’m glad that Damon and the writers did something that made people talk, think and understand what that was all about… There are no plans to do anything. It’s hard to imagine doing it without Damon. It seems unlikely, he told a pretty complete story. Never say never but there are no plans for another instalment.”
