Friends’ co-creator Marta Kauffman is working on an adaptation of Karen Thompson Walker’s SF novel The Dreamers.
According to Deadline, Kauffman is teaming with her daughter Hannah K.S. Canter on the script which is set in a small college town which is transformed by a mysterious sickness that locks victims in perpetual sleep and triggers extraordinary, life-altering dreams.
The book was published in 2019 and received praise for its avoidance of the normal “disaster” clichés.
