Step back 41 years, to a time when the only Star Trek was syndicated reruns of the original series (and if you were lucky, the animated series too). And now on the big screen came Star Trek: The Motion Picture. A brilliant new art and making of book from Titan charts its progress to the screen:

 People like Syd Mead, Ralph McQuarrie, John Dykstra, Douglas Trumbull, Ken Adams and Andrew Probert all played a role in defining the look, and that’s covered in great detail here in Jeff Bond and Gene Kizicki’s book.
