What can go wrong will go wrong, Star Trek’s newest series has proved – but Nick Joy wonders if the show’s already starting to repeat itself, just four episodes in, although there’s some character development:

Ensign Mariner gets to spend enforced time with her mother, Captain Freeman, and it’s easy to see how the latter’s domineering character has created a rebellious daughter.
