The Amazon Prime Video adaptation of Iain M. Banks’ Culture series is no longer proceeding.

Adaptor Dennis Kelly told Den of Geek earlier in the week that he had written about 20-30 pages of a series bible, but had the sense things weren’t progressing.

The estate of the late Scottish author confirmed the news and told the Guardian that the timing wasn’t right. “The interest and devotion that Iain’s work continues to inspire is a testament to the enduring relevance of his ideas and imagination. The estate is hugely grateful for all the care and creative energy that went into the early stages of the project.”
