Samuel and George Clemens’ award winning short horror film Surgery, based on an idea by their father, Brian Clemens, is getting a YouTube premiere tonight, 31 July, at 8 pm.
Surgery stars Nicholas Ball (Hazel, EastEnders, Footballer’s Wives), Jamie Lee (Cold Mountain, Shackleton, Lassie), Lara Lemon (Blackbird, Off Piste, Gangland Revenge, War Of The Worlds) and Samuel Clemens (Gangland Revenge, The Milkyway, Casualty), and is directed by brothers Samuel & George Clemens (The Clemens Bros), sons of prolific writer and producer Brian Clemens OBE (The Avengers, The Professionals, Thriller, Highlander 2, The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad).
The film was the final idea of their father before he passed away in January 2015. Samuel Clemens developed this macabre tale into a script for the screen. They shot over three days in an area which was used twice in their father’s work, in ‘The Avengers’ episode ‘Noon Doomsday’ and the Hammer Horror film Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter near the Clemens family home. The VFX were created by Cliff Wallace (World War Z, Hellboy 2, Fury, 28 Days Later, War Horse, Trance, Wrath Of The Titans and many more).
The film premiered at Fright Fest in 2015 and went on to win a string of awards on the festival circuit and was accepted into many festivals such as Fear Fete, Telluride Horror Show, Atlanta Horror Film Festival, Celluloid Scream, Leeds International Film Festival, Horrible Imaginings, Film Quest, Hole In The Head and many more. It had a huge online following garnering 4 million views through Crypt TV and Crypt Monsters channels.
The film has been remastered for the small screen for a re-release through new production services company Take The Shot Films Ltd through their YouTube channel of which Samuel and George are two of the four founding members and will be released on Friday 31st of July at 8pm as a YouTube premiere. A retrospective making of with cast and crew will follow in weeks to come.
