If you’re looking for a new fantasy author, check out Beth Cartwright’s Feathertide –  a magical story set in the City of Mumurs, following the progress of a young girl to a place that will always call to her.

Sci-Fi Bulletin chatted with the author last week, and discussed the inspirations for the book as well as the challenges involved:

For me, two people don’t go to the same place and see the same things. I’d like to think that that side of Venice does exist somewhere – maybe you’ll go down that alley and you will find Sybel and you will find a mermaid somewhere in the lagoon.
