In the Emmy Award nominations announced today, Watchmen, The Mandalorian and Star Trek: Picard are among the genre shows potentially heading for recognition.

Watchmen received 26 (including three dramatic nominations), while The Mandalorian has 15, Westworld has 11, The Handmaid’s Tale has 10, Stranger Things and What We Do in the Shadows both have 8, and Picard has 5.

The Mandalorian’s categories are: Best Drama, Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance, Production Design for Narrative Program (half-hour), Cinematography for Single Camera (half hour), Fantasy/sci-fi costumes, 3 single-camera Picture editing for a drama series, Prosthetic make-up, music composition, a guest actor in a drama series nod for Giancarlo Esposito, 2 sound-editing in a comedy/drama half hour series, outstanding special vfx, and stunt coordination for a drama series, limited series or movie.

Picard’s categories are Oustanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling; Outstanding Period and/or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic); Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup Makeup for a Series, Limited Series, Movie or Special; Outstanding Sound Editing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour); and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour). Star Trek: Short Treks also gained a nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.
