One of Star Trek: Discovery’s greatest creations is Emperor Georgiou, whose control of the Mirror Universe was wrenched from her at the end of Season 1 of the show. Michelle Yeoh’s character ended up working for the infamous Section 31, and this new novel shows what she was up to offscreen.

In a way it’s archetypal Discovery – it takes a period of Star Trek history we thought we knew, and puts a new spin on it (and even indulges in its own version of the end of Season 2 along the way) – but it’s also a very different take on a Mirror Universe tale.

It’s a great Star Trek tale, bringing back other characters from the franchise’s entire history, stretching back to the original series. Click to read our review here.
