American actor John Saxon, known for his appearances in the Nightmare on Elm Street films as well as Roger Corman’s Battle Beyond the Stars, has died aged 83.

Although probably best recognised for his roles on the super-soaps Dynasty and Falcon Crest as well as the Bruce Lee Enter the Dragon, Saxon appeared in many genre films, including Black Christmas (1974), Dario Argento’s Tenebrae (1982) and From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). He also played Marco Polo for The Time Tunnel, turned up on The A-Team and Wonder Woman, and had multiple appearances on The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman – to the extent that his likeness was used for the toy of the Bionic adversary Maskatron. He starred as Dylan Hunt in the Gene Roddenberry pilot Planet Earth, was Consul Tarant on The Fantastic Journey, and turned up in the 2006 Masters of Horror series.

  1. I first saw John Saxon in the Starsky & Hutch episode: The Vampire. Excellent first impression of a very good actor who is sadly no longer with this. R.I.P., John.
