Although Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard have attracted the lion’s share of attention for the revitalised Star Trek franchise over the past few years, there’s been another anthology series quietly going along in their slipstream. There are now 10 Short Treks, and the first nine have now been released on Blu-ray. (Children of Mars, tied in to Star Trek: Picard isn’t included.)
The Short Treks have been a nice addition to the revitalised Star Trek universe, filling the gaps between regular seasons of shows, sometimes containing hints as to the future of the show, other times explaining bits of backstory that in days gone by could have been mined by Pocket Books’ line of Star Trek fiction.
