Scottish actor Maurice Roëves has passed away, aged 83.

The news was confirmed by his agency earlier today.

Roëves was perhaps best known to genre fans for his appearance in Peter Davison’s final Doctor Who story, The Caves of Androzani, but he also was in Star Trek: The Next Generation’s The Chase, The Nightmare Man and the opening episode of Return of the Saint. His movie work included Outland and Judge Dredd.
