Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone has died, aged 91.
Renowned for his scores for mutliple genres, Morricone is perhaps best known to the general public for his work on Spagheti Westerns. However he contributed extensively to the fantasy, SF and horror genre. Scores tanged from John Carpenter’s The Thing, Exorcist II and Mission to Mars (one of his many films with Brian de Palma), to multiple films with Dario Argento and other Italian giallo movies.
He was given an honorary Academy Award in 2017 then won in his own right for one of his last scores, for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight.
