After mention of The Highlanders as part of the extras on the new animated version of The Power of the Daleks , BBC Studios has confirmed the situation to Sci-Fi Bulletin.

“The Highlanders: This was a four part Patrick Troughton Doctor Who story set in Scotland, 1746. Sadly it was never archived by the BBC film archives. However, audio recordings do survive and are presented here with narration from Frazer Hines.”
