Pip Baker, who together with his wife Jane wrote for Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy’s eras of Doctor Who, has passed away.
The news was confirmed by a relative on Twitter, after Baker was taken into hospital yesterday.
Prior to working on Doctor Who, the Bakers penned A Matter of Balance for Space: 1999, as well as the screenplay for Captain Nemo and the Underwater City. For Colin Baker, they wrote The Mark of the Rani, as well as five episodes of The Trial of a Time Lord, and they followed that with McCoy’s debut, Time and the Rani. They also wrote the novelisations of their stories, and a tie-in Make Your Own Adventure book for the Sixth Doctor. After Doctor Who went on hiatus, the Bakers created Watt on Earth for CBBC. Jane Baker passed away in 2014.
