      • I think its just because its Sarah Jane, I can’t imagine anyone else playing the role other than Elisabeth Sladen. I know they’ve done this with other characters and even some of the Doctors, but I think such iconic characters like Sarah Jane Smith shouldn’t be recast in this way.

  1. Sadie Miller is Liz Sladen’s daughter for those of you who don’t know. If anyone can step into the role, she can.

  2. If you have to recast this role, and there’s a huge argument as to why you shouldn’t, why not hire an actress based merit rather than the fact she’s Lis Sladen’s daughter? Sadie might be a talented actress but there are many more talented actresses out there who could probably do it as well, if not better.

  3. We’ve been here countless times before. Big FInish once stated they would never recast the classic Doctors, but here we are with David Bradley doing regular turns as the First Doctor and Tim Treloar stepping into the crushed velvet of the Third Doctor. Acceptance comes with time, and maybe it’s still “too soon” for some to comfortably accept anyone other than Liz Sladen, but I’m sure she would have wanted her character to continue evolving, developing, and inspiring new generations of fans long after her passing — and I would be very surprised if she and Sadie never had a conversation along those lines.
