Revered actor Max von Sydow has died, aged 90.
In his long and varied career, the Swedish born French actor appeared in numerous films connected to the SF, fantasy and horror genre ranging from the Black Knight in Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal to Father Merrin in The Exorcist.
He also played Blofeld in Never Say Never Again, Emperor Ming in the 1980 Flash Gordon, King Osric in Conan the Barbarian, Doctor Kynes in the 1984 Dune, Leland Gaunt in Needful Things and Judge Fargo in Judge Dredd. His later roles included Director Burgess in Minority Report, Josiah Kane in Solomon Kane, and Lor San Tekka in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
On television, his key roles included Sigmund Freud for the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and Three-Eyed Raven in Game of Thrones.
