Music from the scores from ET, Harry Potter and Elf are among the selections at Mark Kermode’s Hollywood Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall on 17 December.
Inspired by the sounds of Christmas on screen, the repertoire will draw on music from the likes of It’s a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Home Alone, A Nightmare Before Christmas, and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The show is part of Christmas at the Royal Albert Hall, a genre-spanning season that includes pop, soul, carols, classical, gospel, film music and ballet.
Lucy Noble, Artistic Director of the Royal Albert Hall, said: “Little can evoke Christmas like the sound of a festive film score, and we’re delighted to present these stirring, heart-warming and magical themes in a show of their own. We’re especially excited that the night will be hosted by Mark Kermode – one of the country’s leading authorities when it comes to movies.”
Mark Kermode will compère the concert, introducing performances from the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra conducted by Paul Bateman.
It includes music from classic films like Meet Me in St Louis (1944), White Christmas (1954) and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), alongside contemporary favourites, including Love Actually, Home Alone, A Nightmare before Christmas, E. T., Elf and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Traditional numbers will complete the programme, including ‘Sleigh Ride’ and ‘Winter Wonderland’.
Tickets go on sale to friends and patrons October 23rd, and to the general public on October 25. Tickets £22.50-65.00.
