David Boyle, who created the Dapol range of Doctor Who merchandise and organised the Doctor Who exhibitions, has died aged 71.
According to the Blackpool Gazette, Boyle, who ran the exhibition in Llangollen from 1994 to 2003 and in Blackpool from 2004 to 2009, was taken to his funeral in a TARDIS shaped coffin.
He founded the Dapol model company, best known for its model railways but which also produced some Who characters starting in 1988. Not everything was per its BBC original (such as a five-sided TARDIS console) and in the end, the BBC didn’t renew the licence.
