Blade Runner, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Channel Zero star Rutger Hauer has died aged 75.

The news of Hauer’s passing on July 19 was released today. In his long career, the Dutch actor appeared in numerous genre films and TV series, in addition to his most famous role as Roy Batty in Ridley Scott’s 1982 film.

He also played the part of Ash in Dirk Maggs’ adaptation of Tim Lebbon’s Alien novel Out of the Shadows. “This was … my first introduction to audio work; it was fascinating to focus on just how powerful the voice can be for such a unique, non-human character like Ash. In the art form I work in, creating compelling audio drama is the ultimate illusion,” he said at the time.
