The key news from ComicCon was that Brandon Routh will be donning the Superman outfit once more for the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, which will start later this year and conclude in January.
Routh played the Man of Steel in 2006’s Superman Returns. He and Tyler Hoechlin will both play Superman, while Routh will also play his regular character.
At ARROW’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 20, producers treated fans in Ballroom 20 to an action-packed retrospective of season seven, as well as a teaser for what is to come in the final season.
Following last season’s introduction of next-gen vigilantes Mia Smoak and Connor Hawke, Comic-Con fans were excited to learn of John Diggle’s other son, John Diggle, Jr., to be played by new series regular Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll). Diggle, Jr. – known as J.J. – is the Flashpoint-born son of John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson). We meet J.J. in the future as the leader of the Deathstroke Gang, where he faces off against Mia and his adopted brother, Connor.
Barnett joins previously announced new series regulars Katherine McNamara, Joseph David-Jones and Ben Lewis as Mia Smoak, Connor Hawke and Oliver Queen’s adopted son, William Clayton, respectively. Barnett most recently starred alongside Natasha Lyonne in the Netflix series Russian Doll, as well as Tales of the City, the return of the seminal book and television series from Armistead Maupin. Also known for his roles on Chicago Fire, Secrets and Lies and Valor, the Juilliard graduate hails from Florida.
Team BLACK LIGHTNING returned to Comic-Con and left fans in Ballroom 20 shook with this electrifying trailer featuring highlights from the show’s metahuman-infused second season – and hints about the threat posed to Freeland by the looming Markovian War. BLACK LIGHTNING returns for season three Monday, October 21, at 9/8c on The CW.
SUPERGIRL producers unleashed this super-hot trailer at Comic-Con 2019, packed with highlights from season four and a sneak peek at the future that threatens National City in season five – plus new footage featuring an official first look at Supergirl’s brand-new supersuit and brief glimpses of two new faces.
Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars, Dallas, Eli Stone) will star as iconic DC character Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata). A polished businesswoman and heir to a Central American tech empire, Andrea Rojas (aka Acrata) is now making a hostile advance into the world of media. Unapologetic and unafraid to make waves, she also holds a mystical secret. Gonzalo will first appear as Rojas in the season premiere on Sunday, October 6, at 9/8c on The CW.
UK-based actor Staz Nair – who is perhaps best known for playing Qhono, a Dothraki warrior loyal to Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones – will play hardened reporter William Dey, an original character created for the series. On the surface, he’s a cynic and a sellout who looks down on Kara’s earnest idealism. Dey’s not interested in making friends, he just wants to get the story – but his ties to the criminal underworld could prove problematic. Nair (Game of Thrones, FOX’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show, AMC’s Humans) as William Dey will also make his debut during the season premiere episode.
At THE FLASH’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 20, producers treated fans in Ballroom 20 to a first look at the season six villain… Bloodwork. Heroes’ Sandil Ramamurthy has signed on to season six as Dr Ramsey Rosso, a brilliant physician with a genius intellect, and the world’s leading expert on haematological oncology. A former colleague of S.T.A.R. Labs’ Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Rosso rekindles their friendship after they are reunited by an unexpected event. But their longtime bond is quickly shattered when the doctor’s desire to defy the laws of nature takes him down a dark path… one that transforms Rosso from an old friend into the most chilling villain Team Flash has ever faced: the monstrous Bloodwork.
