It’s not a complete surprise for fans, but Marvel and ABC have confirmed that Agents of SHIELD will conclude with the seventh season next year… but it’s going out in style.

“When you know that’s what you’re doing, you can take greater risks, of life and death,” noted Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb talking to Deadline at ComicCon. “Those kinds of decisions suddenly now are real on the table because you’re not playing how do we undo this when we get to the next season. You’re playing that this is going to be the end of the story.”

The 13 final episodes will air on ABC in 2020.
