Following the sell-out success of Big Finish Productions limited edition Doctor Who stories on vinyl records in HMV last year, the audio company has announced another exclusive collaboration: HMV will launch Doctor Who: Death and the Queen starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate on 6th  September 2019.

It will be released as a numbered limited edition of 1,250, on clear vinyl – only available in the UK.

Donna Noble has never been lucky in love. So when, one day, her prince does come, she is thrilled to have the wedding of all weddings to look forward to. Though the Doctor isn’t holding his breath for an invitation. And her future mother-in-law is certainly not amused. But on the big day itself, Donna finds her castle under siege from the darkest of forces, marching at the head of a skeleton army. When it looks like even the Doctor can’t save the day, what will Queen Donna do to save her people from Death itself?

Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor Adventures: Death and the Queen was written by James Goss and nominated for the best Audio Drama in the 22nd annual Audie Awards. As we wrote in our review at the time, “All of the stories in this first collection capture the feel of this era of Doctor Who, but James Goss’s finale also completely gets the “turn on a sixpence/dime” emotional writing that Russell T Davies brought to the series. It’s aided by David Tennant and Catherine Tate’s best performances, and sterling work from Alice Krige, Beth Chalmers and Blake Ritson as the inhabitants of the out-of-the-way kingdom that has had peace for 500 years… ”

The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 1 was released as a limited edition book-sized CD box set and download in May 2016, and also on standard CD in February 2017. It includes Death and the Queen and two further Tenth Doctor adventures.
